I went to Zellers today to find out...none are on display, but I found the boxes and here is what I found. Model #01669CORB...but can't find any more info than I could before I had the model #. Also, as already mentioned, the carseat is only for 5-22 lbs, and stroller is for upto 40lbs. There was a manufacture date stamped on the boxes, and all were manufactured in August 2009 at the store I was at if anyone finds any more info I'd appreciate it. Idea which I'll try and do if I have time...but probably won't have the time...is call the company and ask them more about it.
The carseat is a designer 22 seat. They come under many different names, but that's what it is. You can probably find lots of info if you search the forums for designer 22 discussions. As I mentioned in the prior post, these were made recently enough that they are NOT affected by the information notice which advised parents with older seats to not use the base.
The stroller is an ok stroller. The carseat is a back adjust carseat. For the price, it really is a good deal - you're unlikely to find a front adjust carseat/stroller combo for that price if you're needing one before boxing day. Even then there's no guarantees.
I work at BRU 2 evenings a week and the typical complaint that I hear about the strollers that come with that carseat is that they're heavy and bulky. Every once in awhile I'll hear complaints about the wheels - though I haven't heard one of those for quite awhile. I'd say probably 75% of customers who choose that travel system over others are happy enough with it. From my point of view the biggest decision to make is whether or not you're happy with a back adjust harness.
It's also possible (well, highly probably actually,) that it has what we refer to as a puzzle buckle - and if so it would be the only remaining Canadian seat being manufactured with a puzzle buckle now. (Peg Perego switched about a year ago or so.) A puzzle buckle means that the two buckle tongues have to be overlaid one on top the other, then buckled at the same time. Some people absolutely hate that style, some don't care. They are not as convenient as the "normal" style of separate buckle tongues in my opinion, but something you might not be bothered by.. hard to say.
They do allow the handle up in the car now, the carrier is fairly light weight. It has low harness slots and fits small babies well - you can count on it fitting a 5lb baby. It also has EPS foam in the head area.
They periodically have compatibility issues - typically only in vehicles with seats so flat that you don't need to use the recline adjustment on the base. Otherwise they're a basic seat that will do it's job.
