Long leg cast- should I worry?

Baby A. is going to have surgery next month and will be in a long leg cast for at least 6 weeks followed by a short leg cast for 6 weeks and then month and month of braces on her leg.
I am not to worried about the short leg cast or the brace later on but the long leg cast does worry me.
I think the seat will be wide enough to accommodate her cast- not sure if it will be deep/ long enough though. The first couple of weeks it also has to be elevated..... that one should be fun:(
I am really worried about if we happened to get in an accident- normally a leg would "fold" during rebound or being rear ended but in her case it would not since it will be in the long leg cast. I think the cast might be pushed right into her PEG tube site- I am just worried sick over this now.
She will have to be in the car everyday- gotta take and pick up her brother from the bus stop that is 2 miles away... plus my oldest also will need to be picked up everyday....

Do I worry too much?

What seat is she in? Can you switch her to another seat/borrow another seat with more leg room? How big is she?

D broke his leg 5 weeks ago today and is in a long leg cast. He fits best in his Radian 80, but he can fit in his RA50 he just has to rest his leg up on the seat. In the Radian he can hang it over the side or rest it on the seat back.
He's done so much better in his cast than I ever thought he would. I was so worried he would have to just sit and watch TV for the next 5 weeks, but he learned how to crawl, then pull up, now he walks with it! It was just like watching a baby go through all the motions, only he's almost 3.

She is 26 3/4 inches long- short little bitty thing:)

Most of the time she is in a TF... I just put the headrest on it and it is not as reclined as it used to. I might need to take it back off I think and try to recline it a bit more again.... in the end she really hated the recline. For her it seems to work better upright since she still started vomiting/ spitting up an hour after feeding... she is on a strict feeding schedule that does not allow room to play with:(

Poor little guy:(
The first weeks she is not allowed to hang it over the sides- it is supposed to be elevated... I am afraid to have it resting on the back of the seat- I think it will push into her PEG- tube.
Not sure if I need to invest in a Radian- my husband will have a fit... we already own 8!!! seats for 2 kids but on the other hand I need to be prepared...
I hope baby A. will learn to scoot around with the long leg cast... otherwise we are all going to have a rough time *sigh*

Do you drive a minivan?
when he first broke it I attached a travel pillow to the captain chair arm rest to elevate his leg, that way it wasn't right in front of him but resting to the side. The pillow really helped with the pain from the movement of the car.
I'd try out the seats you have, I'm sure one of them will work. My son is almost 3 and
36" so he's a lot taller than your DD. I didn't put my him in the Britax until last week (4 weeks after the break) because I was so sure it wouldn't work. He's not as comfortable as he is in the Radian, but he's still OK for short drives.

Nope, I am driving a Ford Edge. The biggest seats I do have are the TF but the sides are very high and depending what kind of screws and stuff they put in her foot and how big around the cast is I am afraid it might not be wide enough or deep enough..... I guess with a Radian I could put pillows off to the side and rest her leg on them.... did mention that hubby will have a fit?!?!?!
I gotta sell some seats ;-(
