Best seat...(?)

My parents are looking at buying a car seat for their vehicle this fall. It will mostly be for a new baby, but it would be nice if we could make it work for my kids as well. They do not have UAS in their vehicles, so I would rather not have to move a seat in and out for different sized/ages of kids to use.

So, something that can accomodate a newborn and occasionaly an 18 month old, and a 4 1/2 year old. My 4 y.o. is currently only 30 lbs - I can't imagine her gaining a lot of weight quickly in the next year or so.

I know Radians are ok for NB's - how easy are the straps to move while still installed? What about the other higher weight RF'ing seats out there? Any of those that have easy to change strap heights? Is it realistic to install ONE seat RF'ing and all 3 kids be able to fit in it?

I would look at the True Fit. It fits toddlers, preschoolers, and infants (including newborns!) quite well. :)

Removable headrest for better rear-facing installation, can be used rear-facing with headrest for infants up to 35lbs.
Easy-to-read center angle indicator with two position settings
Easy adjust, no rethread harness for use to 65lbs.
Multi-position crotch strap adjustment
Easy-off pad snaps on and off with out rethreading harness
Color-coded belt paths for easy installation

Two-position recline for better installation

I agree the TF would be a good one to check out. As far as the radian and changing slots for the shoulder straps while the seat is installed, :( I would not want to try it.

I would say.. go with the Radian, just because of the rear-facing weight limit. If you get one that has a 45lb RF weight limit, you should be able to use that one seat for all of the kids until your oldest is ready for a booster and to forward-face. It would really make things quite simple. I've switched harness heights on a number of seats while installed, and it's quite a bit easier for grandparents as compared to reinstalling the seat in a different orientation.

 Maybe it is just my big fingers, it took me a while to get the 2nd strap hooked well after adjusting the shoulder staps on my radian, and that was in the house.

I am constantly changing my RFing Truefit for two different kiddos and it's AWESOME! Soon, I will be switching to a Radian, which I can confidently switch back and forth, and giving my mother the Truefit so she can transport either grandchild without too much fuss.

In short - Give the Grandparents the Truefit - I wouldn't trust my mother to re-thread and get it right - especially while in the car.
