it's basically just a renamed FPSVD... which is the one they got the most complaints about discontinuing.

now if only they would listen about the FPSV booster!

I just hope they give it better covers than they did with the FPSVD.

I will be allowed to officially confirm some of the information on the Roundabout 50 on Monday, probably at www.carseatblog.com . Stay tuned!

I'm not so sure that's true either ... based on the picture we saw (which of course may or may not be accurate), it had a completely different base than the FPSVD had. (The annoying base is one of my few complaints about the FPSVD, but fortunately I've only had to switch between recline and upright a couple of times.)

Can't wait to hear more about it from Darren next week.

I never got to see the pics, but if all they change structurally is giving it the one-touch recline base... it's still not that different.

I'm looking forward to Darren's update, too.

From someone who loves her fpsv - I think this will be a good seat and I would consider buying it if I needed a seat to erf in. I could never afford a marathon, but I could afford a roundabout50. I like the trufit and efta, but they are harder to get into a three across than my fpsv is. (and I am also assuming the new seat will be shaped similarly) For that reason alone, I couldn't choose either of those two seats. My ds will more than likely make it to 6 years old in the seat - so he will be a good booster age at that time. For me, a seat like the roundabout50 would probably be a good value and good choice.

It will probably be on Monday!

Uh, the top slot is very close to the top of the shell. This seat would not work for kids with a big head or a long neck. lol

By Monday, there probably won't be much to say that isn't already out there, but I'm limited by non-disclosure until then.

They don't look any closer to the top of the shell than the MA/DC/FPSVD, to me. :shrug-shoulders: Here's a stock MA photo I compared it with. Maybe it's just the color-blocking on the cover that makes the slots LOOK closer to the top?

Yup, I think it is the color block that makes it look off. Here is my dc

It looks like the base is similar to the decathlon too. I have never seen a decathlon in person though, so just going by pictures.

Let the confusion begin!

While working at BRU it was easy to tell people the difference between the Roundabout and Marathon. I'm not sure what I'd do if I knew nothing about seats, walked into BRU and saw a RA, RA50, MA, MA c/s, DC, DM, BLVD, and BLVD c/s all lined up. I think I'd run for the AOE or just leave the store.

I hope Britax knows what they're doing....

What is an "angle-free" 5-point harness?
And it says it has Velcro Belt Holders and shields--shields???

It's tough to compete with retailers that have blogs as far as new product information. The irony is, I bet Car-Seat.Org and Carseatblog.com sell more Britax seats directly through our affiliate programs and indirectly from our reviews than some smaller, specialty retailers do...
I wonder why they aren't bound by the same non-disclosure agreement you are? I don't really expect an answer to this, it's just rhetorical.

angle=tangle

They didn't copy the information from the retail brochure very well lol. In fact, there's even a major error or two, so I wouldn't put 100% confidence into their info just yet. More Monday.

If they aren't promoting ERFing, then why did they up the RF limit from 33 lbs to 35?

To compete. The Britax 33lb limit came at a time when most seats only RF from 20-22lb. Now that pretty much all seats have gone up to 35lb, Britax feels the need to get with the program.

Always remember, most people just read the label on the box and pick a seat. Marketing trends have lots to do with car seat design, I'm sure.
