Install Regent outboard, and tether to center tether point?

So then, since I don't have an anchor point in the outboard positions, and the car seat MUST be outboard...

I'll have to stick to seats that can be used without a tether.

Trying to stay harnessed as long as possible...

So that leaves Como, Radian, Marathon.

Como and Radian won't install correctly (lap/shoulder belt installation, simply won't stay tight)

So, I think the Marathon and it's hybrids are my only options, and once they are outgrown I guess we'll just get the best booster with the best side impact protection, and that will be the best we can do.

Does the Marathon have the same slot height as the Boulevard?

The Marathon is actually slightly higher than the Boulevard... from what I've heard.

Aiden is just over the top slots in the Marathon when it's installed in my captain's chair. If it is installed in the third row bench, he has about 1/2 an inch until he's over the top slots... but I'm not climbing back there to put him in his seat all the time, so he has a new Radian in the captains chair with lots of room to grow. ;)

The Marathon got him to almost 5 years old... old enough to sit still in a booster, but he only weighs 35lbs, so legally he still needs to be harnessed here in Canada.

The Como has MUCH taller slots than the Marathon. I'd get the Como if your decision is between those two... the top slots are 2 inches taller on the Como than on the Marathon.

Maybe papooses will jump in on this, but I seem to remember her getting the go ahead from Britax to tether and outboard seat to a center anchor. Call Britax to verify, though.

Yeah, the more people who call, the more people get told any tether use is good use, even if it's not the tether right behind the seat... I wish the LATCH manual would take a position on this, since so many cars have inadequate tether anchors and no recourse to add more. Stay on hold with Britax and tell us what they say when you get to them :D

I'd hate to try to tether my Regent outboard on the Camry. I have a sneaking suspicion it wouldn't tighten down enough to be of much use.

Due to the speaker, the tether spot is much closer to the back of the seat than the center. The Tether buckle is basically in a permanent spot on the back of the regent. If the strap was allowed to slide closer to the Regent back, it would make it possible. But as it is, I seriously doubt I could. Something to think about since the Camry is one of the top 10 vehicles sold in the US. I might call up and complain this fall just to put it on the record. :p
