Re: Britax Pinnacle 90

An off-center captain's chair isn't all that close to the other captain's chair to make it worthwhile?

I wouldn't bother in that situation but we really can't say for absolute certain. I suppose if there was a side impact with enough intrusion to go that far into the cabin space it could be beneficial but that would be pretty severe. I have to wonder if everyone's brain would be scrambled inside their skulls at that point anyway.

I'm not entirely convinced they make a real-world safety difference one way or the other.

For me, it's not worth sacrificing that much space in my car. Even in the Suburban's captain's chairs. I don't really want a seat which will ONLY fit in a giant SUV or will take up the entire back seat so other passengers can't ride next to it.

I suspect a SICT seat might not even fit in an outboard position in my Honda, the one place where I might really feel better with any added bit of protection I can muster.

Yeah, I'm conflicted between wanting the latest with all the bells and whistles (SICT included) and wanting something more streamlined and easier to deal with. If they could make the SICT appear more sleek and streamlined and work without taking quite so much space, then I'd like it more. On the other hand, I am very interested in a Frontier or booster with the safe cell technology, assuming it works as well as they say. It would be worth it to me for our tiny back seat.

Is the base of the new model supposed to have safe cell? I missed that. I wonder how that will work, I get it in the convertibles because there's something to compress down into, how would that work in a booster? Maybe ill have to see it in person to get it.

They listed safe cell on the amazon description. So, yeah, hopefully. I know what you mean though because it would not have as much room to compress into as a seat up on a base. I can't wait to find out more!

Re: Britax Pinnacle 90

If I didn't already have a Britax seat with SICT I would buy one of these.

I don't think they are overkill... but then again, I don't think there is any form of overkill when it comes to keeping my kid safe lol

I only have one kid.. so in my car it's not a big deal to have a giant seat.
If I have to transport another kid, I just move him outboard (and then I am super grateful for the SICT) and move him back asap to the middle.

Or, like right now, I have my Advocate RF in the middle, and my Radian RXT FF (for a cousin) outboard and it puzzles well.
-I realize that FF outboard in a Radian is silly when you see my son RF in the middle with the Advocate, but i didn't have time to move both seats that day and was in a hurry. It was me literally installing it as fast as I could to go pick a kid up from daycare that I wasn't planning on.
-My point was that the SICT puzzled well with a Radian... as long as one was FF and the other was RF.

One word, GEARS! I would be all over gears. Something like this, with the gears running down the middle of the seat.

Gears would be fabulous and totally gn depending on colors. Hmmm black with red gears, yes that would so be perfect. I would be tempted at that point. Still not seeing anything that begs me to buy it though.

Link is now broken and I need to know... Will there be a flower cover? I have a kid begging for a flower seat who won't fit anything but a Frontier in a couple of months...
