Checking Interest - Felicity American Girl Doll from 1992

Okay I was going to hold onto this because I was going to pass it down to my little girl, but now that Sia is gone and my chances of having another daughter before something happens to this doll is slim. I was given this doll by my step-grandfather for Christmas in 1992. I barely played with her. I never was able to get anymore accessories for her so she kind of just sat on my desk for a few years and then was put away in a chest since. She is in nearly perfect condition, there is one mark on her skin and maybe one mark on her dress. The only thing I have for her is her dress. Nothing else. Her hair is in really good shape considering how long she has been in storage. No knots, just a little frizziness near the end, which can be fixed with some TLC. I would say she is in EUC being an almost 20 year old doll.

I know these are rare now since they were discontinued, but I have no idea what to charge for her. I want to be realistic about her pricing. I don't know where to start.

Can someone help me figure out a price and where would be the best place to sell her? I hate Ebay. Also if anyone is interested too. :)

I am looking for an American Girl doll for my daughters 11th birthday next month. I'm not sure what price you had in mind. But I may be really interested. :)

I never thought about these dolls being rare. I wonder if Kirsten is. I have her and a lot accessories. Including a trunk and bed. Mine has been played with a lot though. Hope Felicity can find a home.

Well, maybe rare isn't the word. LOL. I dunno, I said I had no clue about what to do with this doll. All I know is that you can't get them new anymore from anyplace other then Ebay! :p

I always wanted Kirsten and Felicity. I never got an AG doll. It was one of the minor tragedies of my childhood. And now the quality has really gone downhill. *sniff*

I always wanted Kirsten. But my grandparents didn't like that she was blonde. So I got Felicity. I realize that I should have been grateful because if it wasn't for them I wouldn't have gotten any AG doll (my mom who was raising me alone couldn't afford stuff like that) but I was 11 and didn't play with her too much because I didn't like her as much as Kirsten.

Actually a Felicity doll from 1992 is worth quite a bit! It would be an Original American girl doll that were made by Pleasant Company i before Mattel bought the company in 1998. She is now retired, as is all of the original line-up sans Molly i believe. So a Kirsten, Samantha, Addy, etc from the early 90's will fetch $$. I have been poking around ebay and it seems a naked true Pleasant Company doll will run about $75 in poorer shape. One in top shape in their original outfit is $100+ depending on the bidders moods.

I personally have a early 90's Samantha and Felicity (my little sister and i worked for an entire year to save up!) with an ever living TON of accessories which i always intended to give to my daughter. I have three sons! :p So now i have been toying with the idea of selling them...... but i am having a hard time letting them go. It's so silly really!

OP i am sure the ladies here will give you a fair price - but just known she is rare and hard to find! :D

Here are some pictures so you guys can give me your opinion on her. I still haven't heard back from the first person who showed interested, but I will let those who are interested know back as soon as I do.

Help me price her!

I'm not sure what you mean by original line-up here- Felicity wasn't in the first three (1986), which were Kirsten, Samantha, and Molly.

Of the dolls made pre-mattel (Kirsten, Samantha, Molly, Felicity, Addy, and Josefina), half are retired, but Molly, Addy, and Josefina are all still sold (by Mattel).

I think she was just saying that it is retired like the original line up was. My mom said that I got this Christmas of 1991. So I am off by a year.

Op, if this was one of the dolls I didn't have I would be all over her. I also have two premattel dolls and think they are wonderful.

Yep that's what i meant :D

I honestly didn't look to see which ones were still being made by Mattel, i just knew a lot of the pre-1998 line-up were now gone as the push has shifted from the historical dolls to the more "like me" dolls.

And i think your doll looks in great shape! Does she have her shoes, stockings, cap, etc?

Also when you take pics to sell people will want to see the markings to prove she is pre-1998 ... so on the back of her neck where the strings are there should be a stamp that says Pleasant Company. On her dress there will be a tag that says made in germany i believe.

You all are making me want to go to my mom's house and get my American Girl boxes out :p

Thanks so much! I don't have anything but her and the dress, but she is in such good shape. I will take those pictures when I decide what I am going to do. I didn't realize she was worth more than what I thought.

I realize I'm beating a dead, and off-topic, horse here, but meh. Yes, of the six historical dolls introduced by the Pleasant Company, three are now retired. On the other hand, five new historical periods have been introduced, with friend dolls for some of both the pre- and post- mattel historicals (with an additional story for the friend), along with new short stories and mysteries for a lot of them.

While I agree that the emphasis has shifted to the modern dolls, I just don't think it's fair to imply that Mattel has killed the historicals.

I was so excited at the prospect of getting DD a Samantha doll someday. Then shortly after she was born I found out that she had just retired :( So I guess I'll be looking for a used one in a couple years.

I had a Samantha doll I got around the same time & was in VGUC, I sold her on Ebay for well over $100, I want to say $130-140 ish.
I got almost just as much selling her bedroom set too.

Just make sure you really want to sell her, I regret now getting rid of mine.
