WWYD? What to buy or do?

So my emails finally reached the office at Dearborn regarding the mess with its sunshine kids Labour day sale. W/o going through the saga here, this is the thread on the background http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=97339

So basically, I have a 'backordered' Princess Radian, but this is what the latest email said:

Unfortunately at this time there is no estimated date as to when the Radian Princess will arrive, and can only offer the Labour Day Sale price on the stock that we currently have.

If you are not interested in the floor model of the Radian Princess, we can offer you as mentioned the Radian Granite which is brand NEW! in a box.

If neither of these options suit you, we apologize and will have be glad to refund you the Order #XXXX.

Please let us know if you would like the Radian Granite, or a refund.

Thanks and we look forward to hearing from you​

Btw, the floor model Princess Radian has July 2007 DOM. So I'm not getting that one - sale or not. I'm asking the DOM of the 'brand new Granite'

But what is the Granite like? And how much is a Princess cover if I really want it?

Alternatively, I can cancel this Dearborn order and wait until Sept 26 to buy one in person at Snugglebugz. No idea the price on the Snugglebugz sale but at least I can check DOM and get the seat in person.

Btw, I had to contact the store thru emails to find out the status. They have not initiated any contact to tell me of what the 'backordered' status mean and such. I finally got them to cancel one order because I only need one. The other order is still pending my decision to get the Granite replacement or to cancel.

This is beyond irritating :( :mad:

Cancel the order(s) and buy IRL. That way you can check the DOM and the cover(s) (and that you are getting a NIB not a floor model) in person yourself.

I'm all for online shopping, but not for carseats -- too many things to check.

Sorry you had such a cr@ppy experience. That sucks.

I'm still looking for two Princess covers. Sigh.

If you happen to talk to anyone at SSK Canada, can you ask about the Princess covers? I really need 2 Princess covers.... Maybe if enough of us ask, they'll sell them? Guilt them into it?? :p

Sorry to hear you're dealing with this!

I just had a HORRIBLE dearbornbaby experience as well :( I doubt I'll ever buy from them again.

I'd take the refund. They won't let you wait until they DO get stock (because you can guarantee they'll have it as soon as they refund/replace everyone's order :rolleyes: )

I'm in a similar boat as you know, with ordering the same thing and then now it says backordered. I got a shipping notification for mine even and still it is now backordered :thumbsdown: Add into that supremely poor customer service today and they pretty much have lost any business they might have gotten from me in the future. This whole thing is a mess. :mad:

I'm sad because I would have just bought two XTs from Junior Baby when they were on sale if I'd known it was going to be like this... I had fast shipping and a really recent DOM... but now they aren't on sale anymore. :(

I hope others ordered with them can resolve things quickly (and dare I hope, satisfactorily?)

Wow that is really bad on their part. I have ordered from them before(during last yrs Britax sale) and found the shipping to be awesomely fast(about 24 hrs). But this really turns me off. Especially since the DOMs are so old. I would definitely have cancelled my order(s).

And I will say that I did have computer problems ordering and had to speak to them to resolve the issue. They said it was because my internet service provider was Rogers. Ummm...I am sure a lot of customers have Rogers. I think their site needs some updating. I couldn't even get on to have a look even with multiple attempts on the sale day.

I've been in contact with someone from Sunshine Kids Canada so I asked her about the cover and this is what she said:

I have to see if I can get my hands on a Princess cover. I have no stock in our warehouse and so I am checking with our US office to see if they have any. But the price would be 52.50 taxes and freight included. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
