Would you try to booster train?

Here's the deal....

It looks like DH may be taking DS to visit some family in AZ for a couple days at the end of September, right before we leave for Guam. Plane ride there, car rides for a couple of days, plane ride back. Now typically, I'd teach my DH how to install whatever seat DS would use and make him pass my tests :p but DH isn't currently living with us due to his schooling, and I would prob. end up meeting him at the airport with DS prior to departure. Also, the only seat I currently have on hand since we're in the midst of a move is a Radian. I'm not real sure I trust DH and my FIL(who is an engineer, and oh boy how we love those! ;) ) to correctly install a Radian.

Now, DS meets the minimum 4/40 and has some experience using the adult seatbelt with the RSTV. He's pretty compliant in the car unless distracted by his sister(who won't be there). I have almost a month to train him. What do we think about a Britax SGL in this situation? Am I crazy for even entertaining this thought? I'm not one to rush into boostering but I honestly think DH has a better chance of getting this right without a Radian in tow. What say you?

Is your rstv packed with your other stuff? If so, then I'd send a parkway or even a turbo, which fit smaller kids really well. If not, send the rstv and teach Charlie how to use it.

Yeah, it got packed. :/ Up until a few days ago, I was going to be accompanying them so the Radian would be no big deal. I'm hoping I can just talk DH out of the trip altogether for a variety of reasons.

Will your DH be driving or is someone picking him up? I'd be comfortable with DH in the backseat with him. Then he has someone right there to keep an eye on him and make sure he isn't squiggling. DD3 is almost exactly the same age. She recently rode in her sister's Vivo with me in the back. She's very squirmy and not a rule follower, but she did fine.
