I need advice, I drive a Prius and I am looking for a car seat to have my baby rear facing at least until he is 40 pounds. He is 16 months old, 26 pounds, 32 inches.
We bought the Safety first Elite convertible seat and we have not been able to install that seat on the Prius (rear facing), we also took the car seat to the Fire station and they weren’t able to install the car seat either.

Thank you in advance

I have installed a Diono Radian with the angle adjuster and was happy with it in our 2011 Prius. There are three models of the Diono Radian with slightly different features but they all would fit the same as they have the same outer dimensions.

There may be other good seats, too, but that is the only one we have used so far in the Prius, and it should last you to your goal in Rearfacing. Good luck!

I have installed a radian (angle adjuster is necessary to have the passenger seat usable), complete air 65, and true fit in my 2005 Prius with no problems. The first two have tall shells and 40/45 lb RFing limits.

I'm curious what the problem was getting the safety first installed. We're you only trying a certain position (eg, center) or having issues with the seat touching the back of the front seats? If you can take it back, then that's great, but if you're stuck with it, there might be folks here who can help you get it installed.

We've it got the same problem with that seat. In order to get the correct angle, you have to shove a bunch of rolled up towels underneath by the seatbelt. But then the shell is too tall that it hits the front row seats. The Graco Size4Me is able to recline because the back height is adjustable and our son isn't that tall yet. It's a wide seat though; won't work for three across. And pretty heavy. It was a pain to carry through the airport and install in the plane.

Many seats have come out in the last 4 years. If you need recommendations or help, please start a new thread and we can address your situation specifically.
