Question What seat would you recommend if you couldn't afford a Britax MA?

It has been a few years since I've kept up with current car seat news. I've used a ton of brands and different types of seats and the Britax MA has become my favorite in terms of ease of installation, easily adjusted strap height, and comfort for the child. I'm recommending it to a friend with a baby who is done with her infant carrier and wants a convertible, but I don't know any current less expensive comparable seats.

Graco My Size? Anything else?

thanks!

Without knowing the child's stats, I'd look at the Graco Contender, Graco Headwise/My Size/Fit4Me/Size4Me, Graco Milestone. Those are all compact, easy to install, have a non rethread harness, and are very long lasting.

I second the recommendation for the Milestone. It has been getting great reviews and is probably the most long-lasting.

I have heard really good things from friends with the Safety 1st Advance Air+, but it is gigantic! So may not be the best recommendation unless they have lots of space. Great for extended RF though.

We have an Evenflo Triumph Procomfort that I love for its gel padding, sliding harness and tightening mechanism, but may not be the best recommendation if kiddo is bigger: the RF height and weight are not up to par with a lot of seats on the market.

In addition to the others mentioned, I am a big fan of my Roundabout G4. Not as long-lasting as a Marathon and you have to re-thread the harness, but it is on-track to keep my petite toddler rear-facing at least until 3.5-4years old -- and will be passed down to our second daughter before it is outgrown anyway. It's usually around $140 and has nice lock-offs and the easiest LATCH install I have ever encountered. Also, for what it's worth, I haven't had to change the harness height since we bought it 1.5 years ago. (I did have to take out the infant insert, but that's the only adjustment it has needed in that time).

It's a typical price for that seat. You can pretty much always find that seat for $119 at some retailer, but the fashions that are at that price point change (last I checked, all three on Amazon were $119 right now) ...and obviously they might have coupons or whatnot for some retailers vs others. The Walmart one you linked to has a different infant insert than the ones sold elsewhere --I don't know if it's better or worse because I have only seen the other one...just something to be aware of.
