Van or truck?

My husband has a work van which only has a front bucket seat. He can turn the airbag off. It would be really helpful at times if he could transport our infant. Is it legal to transport a rear facing infant in front of work van with airbag off? It is very rare he needs to do this. The seat is secured in the same way it is secured in the back seat of my car.

If he can manually turn the air bag off, and won't ever forget, yes it's fine.

If the air bag only turns off with a sensor, no, that is not reliable enough for putting a rear-facing seat in that location.
