True-Fit Crotch Buckle Question

We have the original True Fit. The manual says there are two positions
1 -Rear
2 -forward

I used to think that was related to which way the car-seat was facing -now I see a note that says "Children weighing more than 50lbs use the forward position use position 2" so is this a comfort/fit thing and not something that has to be changed because they are now FF??

I'm a little confused about the wording, but here's what I *think* is how it is supposed to be:

First, there were a few seats made wtih 3 crotch strap positions. I had one with 3 until I had to replace it. My new one has 2 and the 2 positions are the same as the back and middle position on the old one.

I know the outter (3rd) position on the 3-position seat was only for kids over 50lbs.

I *believe* on the 2 position ones that the outter position may be used for any kid as long as the strap does not angle back toward the body, but must be used for kids over 50lbs. Hopefully someone with a manual handy will be along shortly, but if not, I'll grab mine later and post back.

Ok, I just pulled out my manual. Like you, I had always thought they meant RF or FF as the "Rear and Forward Position". I'm glad you pointed this out. Here's my interpretation:

Use the Rear position (1) until either A) The buckle is under the crotch in position 1 (and not at the crotch like it's supposed to be) or B) The child hits 50 pounds.

I think the way they word it makes it murky but that's how I'm interpreting it in my head. I hope that makes sense! :)

Great! That's what my current thinking is!
