Question Tightening the harness straps of Radian

Okay this has got me just baffled. I've got it installed RF. With no kid in the seat when I pull the strap to tighten the harness it tightens all the way in one pull. When Dom is in the seat & I try to tighten the straps I pull it it tights a little & stops I pull it tightens a little bit more then stops. I have to do this several times to get it tight. WHY? Is it supposed to be that hard? If not what am I doing wrong? It seems like the same mechanics as an infant seat but every time I try to put Dom in it it will only tighten like a 1/2 inch in each pull before it stops it's self.

TIA

You aren't doing anything wrong. It is a ratcheting system so you need to give it several small tugs and it will tighten a tad at a time. Sometimes that is harder to do when rear-facing since you tend to need to pull into the seat back, but it can be done.

I like to leave the harness alone when I take my DS in and out. I really don't like to loosen and re-tighten it, so I just slip his arms in and out without messing with the harness.

Thank you, thank you thank you. I was starting to feel so stupid for not being able to figure this out & it was making me panic thinking I was doing it wrong. I'll try not loosening the straps so much or at all.
