Three across in two vehicles

I currently have ds1 (4yo 39 inches) in a truefit ff and ds2 (2yo and tiny) rf in a nextfit. Neither of them seem very three across friendly. I have a regular snugride that expires next year for baby who is due in October. I also have a Rainer that I might be trading for an rxt.

Vehicles are 2014 highlander with bench 2nd row and 2015 accord, and both need to be outfitted with their own seats as I often have to alternate use with my husband. I am trying to keep each individual seat under 200 and would likely end up having to move baby out of carrier before it is outgrown as all my kids hated their carriers and cried all the time, so I only use it for how long it is easy for me to carry w baby.

Thanks in advance for any help!

The Harmony Defender is a combination seat that is narrow and a lot less than a radian. I would try that for your oldest, assuming he's under 65 lbs.

The Nextfit is actually known for being 3 across friendly.

When you say "regular" Snugride, you mean the one with a 22 pound weight limit? That one is not 3 across friendly. A Snugride 35 Click Connect is a pretty narrow, budget friendly infant car seat.

If you need another car seat for a tiny 2 year old, the new Scenera NEXT is pretty fabulous for its price, and it's nice and narrow.

Thank you for the replies. I am trying to keep the nextfit rf outboard and a ff seat in the middle. Is there anything that is known to puzzle well?

The Nextfit is narrow but not very puzzle-y (its narrow all the way down, not super narrow in some spots and wider in others) so your best bet is another generally narrow seat. I'd go with a Defender in the center.

Another option for the center is a Maestro. The Maestro puzzled very well in my vehicle with the SR35.

I have had good luck with 3 acrosses with the G 4 Boulevard. The shape seems to work well in my vehicle.
