Tether anchors and cargo covers

We have a 97 Ford Explorer that I will be getting tether anchors installed in sometime. When seats are tethered, can you still use the cargo cover?
Current vehicle is a truck so I haven't come across this issue.
Thanks!

I don't have an answer for you, I actually have a question! I have a 2000 Explorer and I was wondering about the tether anchors. Is Ford installing them for you? My DD is no where near being FF and I may not even have this vehicle when she is but I was just wondering in case I do. Thanks!!

To the unregistered poster with the 2000 Ford Explorer, the 2000 model year is the first model year that Ford included factory equipped tether anchors in the Explorer and thus you're not actually in need of a tether anchor retrofit. The LATCH manual indicates the tether anchors are 3 U-shaped metal rings on the floor behind the back seat in the 2000 Explorer.

Back to the original poster with the '97 Explorer and the cargo cover question, it's probably not possible to use the cargo cover when you utilize the retrofitted tether anchors based on what I'm seeing in the LATCH manual about the location for installing the tether anchors in drill dimples located on the cargo floor. That suggests to me that the cover and the top tether strap would probably be incompatible with each other location-wise/positioning-wise because you shouldn't have the cover pressing down or overlapping a top tether strap as that can potentially interfere with the tether's performance in a crash. :twocents:

Thanks. That is what I was thinking. I haven't gotten the anchors retrofitted - yet. I don't have a cargo cover. I want one (and was looking for one) but am not going to worry about getting it now since I can't use it with the tether.
