Tall 6.5yo and petite 9yo

My tall (52in, 55 lb) 6.5yo dd is very close to outgrowing her Radian 65. What is the best choice for booster? I'd like to know the safest choice (hopefully this is the last seat we buy for her!) and the safest slim choice.

My petite 9yo (52 in, 50 lb) ds is in a Graco hbb, which I intend to keep him in for some time. Grandma picks him up from school 2x/wk with a nbb. Should I purchase a hbb for her car? He is very mature, behavior-wise, but very petite.

Thanks!

"Safest" is really difficult to quantify with any seat since nobody really does any "star-rating" style crash testing. The plus with boosters though is the IIHS does fit testing and ranking, so choosing one of their "Best Bet" boosters is a good start. As far as dynamic testing, there's not much to go on as far as empirical evidence out there.

My daughter is in a Parkway SGL, which I like, but I've also just ordered a Clek Oobr, mainly because I want to try something with rigid LATCH, but mainly just because the "just thrown-in" installation of boosters sorta bugs me!

The Parkway is relatively slim as far as HBBs go.

As for should you buy one for Grandma's car, it mostly depends on shoulder belt fit - if it's good without the high-back, I wouldn't worry about it, particularly if Grandma's car has side curtain airbags. If not, a high-back might make me feel better about side impact protection, but again, that's a guess since there haven't been many studies to say if it helps, and there's no side impact standard for any seat (yet).
