Question State Farm not agreeing to replace car seats

I was rear-ended by a driver in NY with State Farm insurance. All my dealings with State Farm have been pretty easy. However, today I was told that since my accident did not meet the criteria for a moderate to severe crash, their policy was not to replace the seats. The two companies that make my car seats (Chicco and Graco) state in their manuals that the seats should be replaced after any car accident. Has anyone had any luck, specifically with State Farm, in getting them to replace seats after minor accidents? Should I go to my own insurance company (Geico)?

I would certainly talk to your agent. If you were not at fault, in an at-fault state, tell your agent that the other driver's insurance is refusing to make whole your losses. That's language that usually gets things moving.

I had that happen. I told them I wanted a signed letter stating they were taking full responsibility for anything that happened as a result of me having to use crashed seats (of course I never used them again but they don't need to know that). I got a check pretty much immediately.

State Farm replace 2 of my seats a few years ago after a minor accident, no questions asked. I am in CA though (different laws).
