Should I re-harness?

My 5 yo DS is riding FF in a Graco Nautilus used as a HBB. He is roughly 47" tall and 55 lbs. He fits in it perfectly and does very well sitting still. I am more than comfortable with this set-up normally. However... we are going on a long trip (IN-FL-SC-IN) and I wonder if he would be better if I put the harness back on for the trip? Thanks in advance for your help!

I would, its a long road trip and he is still young. I'm just thinking if it was my 5 year old son (still harnessed)... he would most definitely be falling asleep.

I would definitely re-harness for a trip that long...I even reharness my 6.5 year old for that long. Not only for sleeping, but after that long in the car, I've found that even the best behaved older child can have a meltdown with no warning...with harness, no worry about the child getting out of position during the meltdown.

I am not an expert, but I think that I would reharness, assuming he still fits. Surely, he will fall asleep and also get bored on a trip that long, both things that may cause him to shift position in a booster.

I think I will re-harness him. If nothing else, it will give me peace of mind. Now to find the harness pieces..... LOL!

Harness!

My 7yo was harnessed on our road trip this summer and we'll keep harnessing her on these types of trips, she loves it and asks to, and sleeps well, stays comfy and in position when coloring or reading, doing activities, which is nice.
