Seats are going on clearance... I'm getting twitchy

Must not buy seat. Must not buy seat.

The only seats I want/need now aren't even available in Canada (CCO & 86Y harness), so why am I looking at the TRU website???

I have an infant seat that's good until Dec 2014. Sure it's a plain ole SR22, but it's nice enough. Why am I even looking at the $104 Onboard? I'm not even pregnant . Why do I care that the Triumph 65 is $111? It only RFs to 30lbs and I already own 4 convertibles.

:banginghead:

LOL - I do know what you mean - seeing sales makes it so hard to pass up even when you don't need the seat.

Would it help if I encouraged you to not buy a seat if you don't need it so that the people who do need seats are able to buy seats? I'm watching seats disappear and they're not coming in as fast as they're being cleared out, and that worries me. I know that some it's just a matter of shipments because I'm sure the manufacturer has the compliant seats ready, but there is going to be a gap of limited selection... and I know our store is really feeling it already.

So, is this clearance from TRU, then? I'm visiting my mom in Edmonton from overseas later this week, and it would be lovely not to travel with my bigger kid's Nauti. For a good price, I could definitely get behind buying a new seat to keep at Grandma's ...

Yes, this is at TRU. The complete air is on for $139.98. Would probably work well. If you're going to the west end store I expect the clearance Triumph to be gone right away if not already - we had only one or two left Saturday night. There aren't any of the clearance child/booster seats left - Maestro down to display, another seat (summit clone,) is display only, and the Eddie Bauer one you don't want. (And there was only one left of it too.)

The Complete Air has a low profile and tall harness height with a 50lb limit, so if that limit is high enough, I'd probably just go for it. (The Nautilus, Frontier XT, and Generations 65 are all compliant already.)

I was in a local TRU and the stock was very very low. They had a CA, Britax (all models pretty much), Symphony I believe....more than half of the convertibles were gone. I was tempted as well seeing some of the online sales but missed the TF sale at TRU.

I also have a brain defect which includes a GN in my storage room I probably don't need, but couldn't pass up the sale! LOL

I'm kind of debating just using it for ODS for his main seat instead of buying him the Frontier I'd planned. Then sucking it up and buying him a HBB for a back up seat, like a normal person! LOL

Of course, in my defence, I'll be going back to work next year and will need a 2nd spare seat for YDS for d/c, though one of those TF would have been better for him...

The new Britax seats are compliant, and the CA and Symphony weren't on sale or clearance until the Sept 30 flyer. They were on sale during that flyer, then went on clearance when the sale ended.

But yeah - the stock situation is probably getting near identical in stores all across Canada. Travel systems are even worse, and stand alone infant seats are bad too...

Hmm, no, that doesn't really help, LOL. The only thing that helps is reminding myself that *I* don't need the seats. See, I lend out all my extra seats to close friends & family (people I trust whose kids I care about) who either can't or won't get new seats. I don't just have extra seats lying around. Right now I have 5 children in seats. There are 5 seats in my van and 2 in DH's car. That's it.

My Scenera is helping out someone who couldn't get her Evenflo carrier installed with 1.5" clearance. My TF got a 4yo out of an expired, outgrown thrift store seat. But now another family member is outgrowing an infant seat. The seats will all be passed down and 4yo will go in a booster (not ready). I wish I had a Maestro or Triumph or something. A friend called dibs on the SR when I'm done with it (she's due in Feb), but now found out she's having twins and doesn't care that the SR22 doesn't fit small babies. I wish I had an OnBoard.

But... *I* don't need them!!

And yes, I was commenting to Chely the other day that I fully expect to see shortages in the next few months, or at least nothing on sale once this clear-out is done.

Perhaps you could find something on sale that Zellers also carries and get them to price match. Then you can use those handy-dandy gift cards that just arrived in my mail box today.

Haha, awesome! Took me a minute to get what you were talking about. I almost forgot.

And no! If I really, truly wanted another seat to lend out, I would have just kept the CA, LOL.
