Seat expiration and which seat to get question!

Ok, first question, Colton's regent expires in 2 days and I have no way to get the money for a replacement until the 3rd, so would *you* be comfortable enough to use the seat until then?

Second question, money isn't a factor between these seats. I was planning on getting him a nauti, but I'm now thinking about the maestro(what is the harness height on this one?). He is 6yo, 43lbs and his torso is 19". He is a slow gainer and I know it would take him at least 18m-2y to gain 7lbs. ETA: He is using the next to top slots in the regent and his shoulders are about 1/2" under them and when I measure him in his seat I get a torso of 16-17".

Which ever seat I get will be passed down to Caitlyn in 18m when the MA expires and he will more than likely go into a dedicated HBB (he will be 7.5y). He is booster trained now, and can/will ride in it correctly, but I am not comfortable with him being in a booster full time yet.

To measure his torso, have him sit with his legs crossed and his back against a wall. Measure from the floor to us shoulders.

That's what I did and I got 19", but in the seat it's shorter. I even remeasured to make sure! Maybe because of the slant of my seat in the van?

Possibly, or his bum could be sliding forward in his seat. I would go with the wall measurement, just since that th way that is always suggested. I guess it's time to start looking at boosters! :)

My oldest DS always fit with MORE room than he should have in the regent. Like say when he had a 19 in torso and "should" have been using the top slots he could use the second from the top. It seemed like it was one of those ghost seats kinda like the EFTA.

You could try him in the store but with both the nauti and the maestro but my kids lost room when they were installed so I don't know.

I agree it sounds like you're looking at a Frontier 85 or boosters.
You might like the parkway SGL for it's secure guard strap and it's in the same price range as the other seats you were thinking about before you found out they would likely be too small.
If you want a different option for a secure feel for him, I believe the harmony boosters recommend locking the seatbelt during use, so that might be another suggestion - depending on why you felt he wasn't quite ready for full-time boosting.
