routing belt for booster

When using a booster, whether no back or high back, do BOTH the shoulder portion of the belt and the lap portion go under the 'armrest'? (As opposed to the lap going under and the shoulder going over) Is this something that differs from seat to seat?
Thanks,
C.

On the buckle side, both parts should go under the armrest.

On the side where the belt is mounted, the lapbelt goes under and the shoulderbelt goes over.

If the shoulderbelt were to be routed over the armrest on the side that the belt is mounted, the shoulderbelt would not be on the child's shoulder.

What confuses most folks is whether or not to put the shoulderbelt over or under the armrest on the buckle side. The answer is under. :) At least, that's how it was with the TurboBooster and how it is with the Compass booster. I assume it would be that way with all of the ones with armrests.

Thanks, that's what I thought. That's how I do it on our Parkway. My friend's kids loaded into their van today (of course my two were hanging around trying to climb in) and they had it over the armrest (buckle side). I mentioned it to mom who said that was how it is supposed to be. I said I didn't think so , but let it drop.
I have seen a kid in a seat with the OTHER side under, it just turns the belt into a double lap belt!!! I'm hoping she looks into it and realizes it isn't right. My impression was she taught them to do it that way and they were expected to do it 'correctly'.

When in doubt, read the manual.

While most work as described (both belts UNDER on the buckle side, and the map belt under/shoulder belt over on the opposite side), some may differ.

The manual is your friend - you want to become intimate with it.

It took some convicing last weekend for my friend to believe me that her kindergartner is not at risk of decapitation *SIGH* with the shoulder belt being on her collar bone -- she thought it had to be under both armrests  :(
