ride safer vest or booster?

I need to take my 35 lb. four year old on two taxi trips (to/from airport) next month. Normally she is in a Britax Frontier 85, but I don't want to take this on the plane or risk checking it as luggage.

Which would be a safer option for her, a Ride Safer Vest or a backless booster seat? (I also have the option of having the car service we're using provide a car seat, but I'm worried that what they provide won't be appropriate/acceptable.) I'm concerned about the lack of side impact protection with either option.

Welcome! The safer option is probably the Ride Safer Travel Vest. There are a couple of backless boosters that start at 30 lbs., but the majority have a min. weight limit of 40 lbs. If you're going to be riding right next to her in the car and can monitor her, a backless booster might be OK.

Definitely the Ride safe travel vest! Not only is it safer(I think) it is much easier to carry, I would choose it hands down over a backless or any other booster in your situation.

The Ride Safer Travel Vest is like a 5pt harness. So for a 4yr old, a 5pt harness would be the best.

The RSTV is a booster. Instead of boosting the child up to meet the belt, it pulls the belt down to the child, but it still functions as a booster. That is according to the manufacturer.
