RF Radian XT in a 2009 Subaru Forester

Okay, I am sure I have read here that it can be done. But honestly, HOW?!? No matter what I do I just can not get it tight enough or to touch the back seat.

I'm trying outboard with both latch and seatbelt (no, not at the same time :)).

It is possible, right?

I don't have a forrester, but I have an impreza and I can get my XTs in Rf. Maybe i'll have to take a field trip to subaru and test it out.

Yes, it is possible. I've done it. Not my car, though, and I don't really remember any details ATM. I'm not even sure if it was LATCH or seatbelt.

PMing the owner of the vehicle ... hopefully she can help.

I have an XT installed RF in my 2009 Forester XT. The only major issue I had was with trying to get it more upright... failed at that! I'm using LATCH. There was something with the angle at which you pull the LATCH strap to tighten it -- angle it toward the Radian as much as possible. I couldn't get it tight enough pulling straight out or away. This might have been for FF, though... I can't remember.

What are you trying to get to touch the back seat? The base? Or the part of the RN where the child's feet/legs go? I followed the tips on an upright install to get mine in -- pull RN away from the seat bite and kind of get behind it to push it upright, then tighten. Ended up with a 45-degree angle anyway, but maybe that's the trick to getting it tight? It did take a lot of sweat!

Seriously? It's possible?! A few days ago, I wanted to install our Radian65 rf in dh's 2007 forester. I absolutely couldn't get it in, even with the passenger seat pushed up all the way. I'll have to give it another try, now that I know it is possible. I'll have to search the successful install thread, but the thought never occurred to me that it might actually work.

Well with DH's help, we may have been able to do it. I'm not doubting it's possible, I just think it takes a better car seat installer than me :)

However, I read on another thread that someone was still rf their 24mo in their Diplomat and I pretty much have the smallest 19mo there is, so I remeasured (instead of just eyeballing) and I actually think we have a couple inches left.

So back goes the radian and hopefully by the time she outgrows the Diplomat we either have a new car or Canada has some new seats!

Thanks for all your help.
