RF Radian in middle seat

Is a Radian narrow enough that it will fit RF in the middle seat of a compact car? Or will it not fir between the driver's and passenger's seat? (Or does it not generally stick that far forward?) (I specifically have a prius, but I'm curious also for rental cars, etc.)

(I sure wish BRU would start carrying them in their stores. It would make it a LOT easier to try them out!)

It fits in the middle of a Prius very well, but it will touch the front seats (not allowed) unless they're all the way up. You can use the Diono angle adjuster Radian accessory to fix the touching.

... touch the front seats (not allowed) ...

Is this a rule for all car seats? We've got Britax and Cosco Scenera convertibles so far, and I've tried to make sure they don't touch, but I wasn't sure if it's a set rule always or only with certain brands.

Both the vehicle and the car seat must allow touching/bracing. If you can slide a piece of paper between the car seat and the vehicle seat in front of it, it is not touching.

Toyota doesn't allow bracing on the front seats because it can affect the advanced air bag sensors. Because Toyota doesn't allow bracing, you can't brace in your Prius even if the car seat allows for it.

If you let us know before hand what vehicles and car seat combinations you plan on using, we can let you know if bracing is allowed. You can also read through the vehicle manual both in the child restraint and air bag sections- look for any warnings about touching seat backs/hanging things off of them/ anything similar.

Britax allows light touching http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=219508 and Cosco doesn't allow touching.

I imagine you have a newer model so what Brianna says is correct, but just a side note that we have an '01 Prius, and Toyota does allow bracing for those. :)

I am going to add though that you cannot use the angle adjuster unless the child is over one year of age.
Where are you located? is there maybe a tech near you that has the seat or is there a place where you can find one

Diono has said several times that the angle adjuster is fine for kids who can handle the new angle. The one year is very conservative and set by an engineer who doesn't want people using it for their newborns. And even then, there's at least one car I can think of where the angle adjuster would be fine for a newborn (take it from 55 degrees to 45).

VW Eurovan. With me standing on the foot area of the Radian, bracing my back against the roof and the mom tightening the belt with all her might, the best we could do was 55 degrees.
