Replacement for Cosco Scenera?

My almost-3-year-old has outgrown his Cosco Scenera, which we have used as a secondary/travel seat. We chose it because it is lightweight, portable, easy to install, and affordable. We have been very happy with it, but he is now 40lbs and 40".

He has always been large (height and weight) and we would like to find a replacement that fits our criteria and has high limits so it will be useful for a long time.

I am looking forward to hearing your expert views! Thanks in advance,

Where were his shoulders in relation to the highest harness height on the scenera?

The Guide 65 might be an option for you - it's lightweight, inexpensive, and has a 65lb harness weight limit with 17" top harness slots.

My first suggestion for lightweight and tall travel seat is usually the Evenflo Maestro, but it has a max weight limit of 47lbs and I'm not sure how long those 7lbs will last your son.

Ultimately I guess it depends on if he needs the height or the weight room more - both seats are within $10 of each other - the Maestro will give about 1" more growing room than the Guide 65 but it has the lower weight limit of 47lbs.

I would expect both seats to be easy to install in most vehicles. The Maestro may be marginally lighter, but I've never compared the weights side-by-side so I could be wrong about that.

There's also the Complete Air 65 which gives you 18" top harness height and a 65lb weight limit, but at $199 it's $60 more than the other two and isn't quite as light.

Thanks so much for your insight!

He is pushing it on the top harness slots in the Scenera, but I'm not sure that the 47lb limit would last us very long! We have the Safety 1st as our primary seat and I'd prefer something cheaper and lighter for travel iif possible. I will check out your suggestions!
