Question Recommendation for dummy proof seat?

I need to buy a seat for grandma that may be able to be used for DS and maybe sometimes for DS#2 due in August.

We were going to get a graco comfortsport because of the price point, but I find it so hard to adjust while RFing. So now I'm looking for something that *anyone* can use correctly. My mom is very unsavvy when it comes to this kind of stuff. So it concerns me when she has to pick up my son because I'm not totally sure she's got him strapped in correctly.

Can anyone give a recommendation for a dummy-proof seat. Something extremely easy to adjust?

here is our info.
DS#1 - 1 yr old, 22 lbs, 31.5"
DS#2 - due in August
grandma's car - Mercedes ML350

We have a Britax Marathon and I find that very easy to adjust, but it's a bit pricey for me to buy as an occasional use seat. So I was thinking of either the EFTA or the FPSVD...
Right now I'm leaning towards the EFTA because what I've read is that it's super easy to adjust from kid to kid.

Thanks so much for your help!!!

I think the EFTA is a great choice. She doesn't have to rethread the harness straps and she shouldn't have to use pool noodles to use it RF.

My mom hated the EFTA. With it Rfing the knobs to tighten the harness and the lever to release it dug into the seat back too much for her. She has a mercedes as well but it's a 2 door so not much room. I think I'm going to get the Roundabout to use just until she gets a new car and we can get a bigger seat.

I to vote the EFTA! I LOVE mine. I think it would be very easy for her to use. I am thinking of putting my EFTA into my MIL's car when we move & she starts watching him!

I like the RA as well. As an owner of a two door convertible PT Cruiser, the RA just fits really well in a limited amount of space. As for RF, the new ones are 35# weight limit, and have the new double click crotch buckle. As for expense... Check out the Collegiate cover RA's at www.babyage.com for one heck of a good deal! ;)

The EFTA is super duper easy to use BUT if she is one that wants to loosen and tighten the straps each time it will be difficult while RF. I don't do that no matter which way my kids face so it was a non issue for me.

Honestly, I would do the Fisher Price Safe Voyage. I tried to show my mother how to use the EFTA and it was in vain. She could not figure out the knob adjuster thing, but she was able to do a Marathon no problem.

We got the EFTA for my mil to use. I don't think she would get the straps tight enough on a seat with a pull strap but she does great with the knobs.

Hi Jaxmamma,

I was going to recommend the Evenflo Triumph Advance. It is AWESOME and truely dummy proof. Even my husband, who NEVER puts the kids in their car seats can put my 2 1/2 yr old in it and then put a newborn in it...properly!! My question is, based on your username...do you happen to live in jacksonville, FL? I just bought two new tru-fit car seat because I just love it and wanted a flower seat for my girls. My ETA is only 4 month old and I paid $140 for it and would like to get $90. It has never been in a wreck or even close to one. If you are close to me and are interested, please email me.

:yeahthat: - have her try out the two different kinds of tightening mechanisms (Marathon and ETA) and have her decide which is easier for her.
