Recent Air France experiences?

We will be flying transatlantic when DC is 16 mos old and have bought him his own seat. We will also be driving once there and definitely do not want a rental seat.
We have always flown Air France pre-baby and didn't realize US versus foreign carrier could be an issue, but now I have seen some scary things about flying AF w/ car seats. However, most comments are 3+ years old, and currently the AF website says car seats are allowed. I don't care if they make me FF on the plane, I just don't want to be forced to check the car seat and then have an unrestrained toddler!
Would love to hear any recent Air France experiences!

Hey Simone, have you flown or not yet? if so can you share your expereince with AF and car seats?
I am too travelling on AF with a 20 mos toddler this summer from Seattle thru CDG. I am planning to buy the Cosco Scenera just for the flight and I have been searching for any clues/suggesting regarding AF experience.
