radian angle

Can someone tell me the angle of my RN? Is it too reclined? I keep trying to get it more upright, but nothing seems to help.

It looks right about 45 degrees to me, however, it looks like (as best as I can tell from the fuzzy pic) you have a locking latchplate buckle and that it is at the wrong angle to stay locked. Can you twist down the female end of the buckle to make it shorter and get the latchplate further down out of the belt path?

Sorry about the fuzzy picture. Actually the stalk is twisted the full 3 turns already or else where it buckles in would be right at the edge of the belt path. Do you think I could get it more upright with the old boot?

The old boot might get a more upright angle, but, the way the belt buckle is sitting now the seat belt is not locked and that issue is a higher priority.

Here's something for you to try. Untwist the belt stalk completely. Pull the foot out from the seat crack a couple of inches and kneel hard right at the very front of the seat, pulling the seat back as upright as possible at the same time, and see if you can get the buckle all the way into the belt path. You may need to get someone to help you tighten the belt, but if it works the belt will be locked AND you will get a more upright angle.

OK I will get my husband to help and see what we can do. Thanks for your help. I will post another picture when I get it redone.

Just wondering, is it easier to get a more upright angle if you install using the seatbelt vs. LATCH? If so, I may need to try the seat belt instead.

It varies from vehicle to vehicle. Some vehicles it's easier with LATCH, some it's easier with seatbelt, some it doesn't matter what you do.

As Melissa said it depends on the vehicle. I actually get the tightest most upright install with the seatbelt and a locking clip in my 2004 Civic.

I tried untwisting the stalk and it didn't help. I think I may have to install it outboard and just move the front seat forward some.

How do I upload more pictures? It says that I have exceeded the limit.

Here are some more pictures. The second one is the buckle with 3 twists. The last is with no twists. The first is installed outboard.

The first photo in the second set looks MUCH better than the first photo in the first post. The buckle with three twists looks great; the buckle with no twists is unacceptable.

You can upload more pics by deleting some older ones you don't need any more, or by using a photo hosting site such as Photobucket, Flikr, or Picasa.

So I should probably leave it outboard instead of trying to put it in the middle.

Thanks! I figured out how to make the pictures smaller before uploading them.

Now I'm having a duh moment. I tried and tried to get it more upright than 45* in our Freestar, but I never even thought of trying the seatbelt!
