part time boosters

My twins are currently 5 and a half years old, just under 40 pounds, and regularly ride harnessed in Graco Nautiluses.

Next month, we will be flying to my parents, and I'm looking for car seats for use in my mother's minivan. Ideally, they would be small, light and inexpensive. I was looking at the Bubble Bum booster and the Harmony Youth / LiteRider and similar.

On the other hand, my parents are looking to move very soon and this would likely be the only time we'd use the boosters. I'm not willing to drag the Nautiluses through the airport, but what if we just used the backless booster part of the Nautiluses?

Any thoughts or advice would be welcome.

Thank you!

I don't know. I've gotten a lot more use out of my "spare, one time only" seats than I expected. Great for carpools, a friend's child, other travel, etc. So I might get some Lite Riders and carry them through the airport, then keep them as spares.

Does that mean when they move you won't visit them anymore, and therefore won't need the boosters? For our upcoming trip to my mom, I'm actually mail ordering a big kid AMP (what he uses here, and we'll be 5 in a RAV4 at her house so need something narrow...). It's about $40.00 and will stay at her house for future trips. We'll only probably use it a handful of times, but it's worth the $ to me not to have to drag a seat through the airport when it's 1 adult (me) and 2 kids (ages 5 and almost 12)

I'd buy a couple Literiders. The $30 I spent would be well worth it to not have to take apart and reassemble 2 Nautis.

Thank you! I'll get a couple of LiteRiders, then. :)

When my parents move, they'll only be a car ride away, so the children will always be able to ride in their Nautiluses.
