Question New booster already 1 yr old?

Friday I bought an expensive booster for my 5 year old for travel. I was shocked when I unboxed it to discover it was made more than a year ago.

I am kinda grumpy that I bought a car seat that was not "fresh"

My nice booster will expire when my son is 10 instead of when he is 11.

I was thinking about calling the company to see about getting a fresher seat. Is this totally silly?

it was ordered by the shop I bought it from. It arrived from the company Friday.

I have to have it for Tuesday so I couldnt send it back or decline the purchase =(

Did the baby store order the seat directly from Clek or was it have been already bought by the baby store and kept in a wear house somewhere? If it was shipped directly from Cleck I would call them because you shouldn't pay full price for a seat that is a year old. If it was from a wear house that the baby store has then the babystore should give you a discount.

I also doubt anyone here would recommend a backless booster for a 5 year old, even one as cool as an olli. Most of the regulars here don't have their 5 year olds in a booster at all. Anyway a high back is better for younger kids because it does a better job of positioning the seat belt and this study says that they preform better in a side impact crash. It is true though that I doubt the study took latched boosters into consideration.

The only situation that I would feel comfortable recommending a no back booster for a 5 year old is it was being used as a carry on and the family was flying.

The store ordered it from Clek

and yes this seat is being used not for every day use but for a special circumstance... which is why if I am going to store it for a year or two after I use it for the 1st time every minute counts

I'd contact clek and see why you got such an old DOM. Usually when ordered from the company, seats are very new.

The last seat I purchased was a safeguard. I was so surprised when I got it and the manufacturers date was literally the day before. I was a little concerned about this booster I was just spoiled LOL

Clek offers a 2 year warranty 'from date of purchase', so that's excellent (I was reading the manual looking for the expiration date information, lol). But also, page nine says the seat is good for 7 years. I wouldn't worry at all about a seat that's a year old, personally

it's not that I would worry, but I'd be mad that the seat I paid full price for is that old already.

I would indeed call clek or pm Mike and find out why it is so old and if you could get a newer one.
