Nautilus Best Option?

Hi all. I have a 15 month old dd that's just about too tall for her SS1. She's about 23 pounds. I'm trying to figure out my best option. I also have an almost 5 year old 42 pounds 42 inches. She is in a Wizard that will expire in 7/11. She has a short torso and my 15 month old has a long torso. I was thinking of getting a Nautilus for the oldest and move the youngest rf into the Wizard. Of course when the Wizard expires I'll need to get something else for one of them.

I also have a Scenera and a regular Triumph. I hate the Triumph and find it too hard to use for everyday. The Scenera is intended for a backup and to travel with but could be used I guess. I'm a missing anything that would serve my needs better than a Nautilus?

Thanks!

Hi there! The Nautilus is a nice seat, and often recommended around here. If it suits your budget and fits your child and vehicle, I'd say get the Nautilus and pass the Wizard (RF of course) to your youngest.

You said she's about to outgrow the SS1 by height... does she have at least 1" of hard shell above the top of her head? As long as she has that and is under the weight limit, she still fits. The printed height limit is just a guideline because some kids have longer torsos while others have longer legs. You did say she has a long torso though, so she may certainly be outgrowing it (or she may already have!)

The Scenera would be fine to use, too, if you'd like. It's a basic, nothing-fancy seat but it's safe. All seats on the market pass the same safety standards. How much room does your older DD have in the Wizard? When does the Scenera expire? Depending on these answers, you could just use the Wizard and Scenera for a while longer, and then later when the Wizard is going to expire (or will be outgrown, whichever comes sooner), you could then look into the Nautilus. Perhaps there will even be new seats on the market at that time to choose from.

Thanks.

She is approaching the one inch mark now in the SS1. My Scenera was manufactured in 4/05 so I assume it also will expire in 2011. My oldest has quite a bit of room left in the Wizard, over 3 inches.

I love the Scenera for travel and as a spare but I'm not sure how I'd like it as an everyday seat. I may give it a try and see. I know I hate the Triumph more though!

Well in that case, I guess it really comes down to a personal preference. If you're comfortable and confident using the Scenera on a daily basis, that would work, but if you'd prefer the Nautilus, that would be great too. Some people say the Scenera isn't the easiest seat to use daily (I don't have one so I don't know, that's just what I've heard). If you're comfortable with it though, it would be fine.
