Maestro & airplane

I suck at searching on my phone. A coworker is flying on Sunday with her 3 yr old son. She is very good at listening to her car seat freak boss. :D I have got her not to use her new program seat as a checked baggage. But....
1. Is the maestro FFA approved?
2. What paper does she need in case the flight attendants give her a hard time?
3. How different is a maestro to install on a horizon/Alaska plane, any tricks?

1. Yes- as long as it's being used with the 5-point harness. It's not approved for aircraft use as a booster.

2. There are a number of FAA documents, some longer and more "official," but this 2-pager is nice and succinct and has most of the key info you need:

http://www.faa.gov/other_visit/avia...afety/info/all_infos/media/2011/InFO11007.pdf

Again, your friend should keep in mind that booster seats are never permitted and that some flight attendants may confuse this seat with a booster, but she can stick to her guns.

3. We installed a similar seat on an Alaska Airlines jet a few years back; I don't recall any particular trouble. It might be a little tighter on a smaller Horizon aircraft, but she should still be fine. It helps to kneel down hard on the seat while tightening the belt, but I'm sure you knew that.
