Long torso, lightweight child in booster

We just got our 4 yo dd a Frontier since she outgrew the Blvd by torso height. I am very sure it will harness her until 5 and probably until she is 6. But she only weighs 29 lbs and likely will not weigh 40 lbs when she outgrows the harness by torso height. I didn't realize the Frontier has a 40 lb min. for booster mode. So I would need to get her a different booster with a 30 lb min. weight until she was 40 lbs right? We do have a younger child to pass the Frontier down to.

There is a good chance she will grow some legs and gain some weight before she outgrows the Frontier, I would try not to worry about it right now.

I agree, try not to worry about it just yet.

That being said...Wow! That is a very long torso for such a light kid.

My son is 4 years, 9 months and 32 pounds..he is very light for his age and basically skin and bones...you can totally see his ribcage. He is 40 inches tall...we just turned him forward facing and the second from the top slot of his marathon is still above his shoulders. I have a hard time imagining him being 3 pounds lighter, yet still have a 3 inches longer torso than what he has.

(Not that I'm doubting you...just trying to visualize it)

Yeah, I never noticed how long her torso is until she outgrew the Blvd rearfacing by height. :dizzy: I thought she would make it to 4! She is skinny and petite like me, but has shorter legs and a long torso like dh. When younger dd was born she was the same way. The lowest harness setting on the Blvd was just at her shoulders and she was only 7 lbs at birth!

Can you still return the frontier? The nautilus allows boostering from 30lbs (you would want to try before buying to see if you think it would fit her). But if you keep the frontier and she ougrows it by height before hitting 40lbs you will have to use another booster. My ds1 is tall and skinny and I find that the turbobooster works really well for him (you can often find it for $40) - might be a good optin for an in-between seat without spending a ton.

I would still keep the Frontier. DD1 could use a different booster and DD2 could have the Frontier when she was ready. I'm not worrying too much, I just like to plan way in advance. Thanks everyone!
