locking latchplate style seatbelts

I have a 2012 Suburban. My third row has the locking plate type seatbelt rather than the type that lock at the retractor in the shoulder area. I do understand how these are reliable for adults but how do they perform with child restraints. The angle at the latchplate is different depending on the install and I don't feel good about putting anyone back there. Help me feel better please.

PS I have avoided this by putting 3 across the middle row but I need the extra seats a lot this summer and need to figure this out. I had a nautilus back there for awhile but it loosened even with twisting/flipping the buckle so I quit putting anyone back there.

Also, My kids are 5y5m 40lbs (nauti), 2y3m 30lbs(RF Marathon65), and 6mo(snugride32). My extra passengers are also carseat users typically and I have an extra nauti, marathon65 and a scenera or 2. I may pick up a HBB for my son to try but I hate to do that just because of the stupid belt.

Were you flipping the male or female part of the buckle? Flipping the male end is what stops it from slipping. If it still slips loose, you can use a locking clip.

Yes, flipping the male end. I can get a tight install, then flip and rebuckle, it takes 2 adults but not too much trouble with help. I check it and a week or two later its not tight anymore.

I need to try the locking clip. Do you install tight? then attache the clip and rebuckle kind of like the flipping/twisting process was?
