I have finally been able to try my DS in all the seats I was considering. This included S4M, Foonf, Nextfit, Radian RXT, and Peg. I most wanted the Peg, but when I sat him in it--no way. On the 7th click he had little room (maybe 2 in).
So now I am down to 4. The Radian & S4M & Foonf he had TONS of room (going by the 1", I understand there also standing heights at play here). But the Nextfit confused me. With the straps *just* at his shoulders, he had very little room overhead, maybe exactly 1"? I didn't have anything to do an accurate msmt, but I was surprised there was so little wiggle room. When he was in the S4M with the straps below, he had a ton of space between his head and the red handle.
So, I am wondering, is this other people's experience? That when you have the harness at the shoulders, you have the bare minimum of overhead space?
