Now to put it together and install it.
Can I remove the lower LATCH connectors since I am not using LATCH? Abigail is around 44-45 pounds so I am using short path with a lap and shoulder belt?! SOrry still reading the manual.
Is the recline bar supposed to be loose or should it be pushed it a bit more. I haven't gone looking for my rubber mallet yet, lol.

No, you really shouldn't remove the LATCH anchors. You just never know when you're going to need them again, and they aren't designed to be removed. The cover has pouches for storage of the LATCH hooks on either side, above the belt path. Just re-thread the LATCH strap so it's through the SBP route and put them in the pouches.

The recline bar goes in at a downward angle. Usually, it's easiest to just flip the whole carseat over to get the bar in. I have a Husky, which is reportedly easier, but I've never needed a mallet; I just give it a couple of good taps with my fist. Smacking it at the right angle is vital. Here's some pics:

This is the way your brain wants to put it, and it won't work:

*tilts head sideways to look at picture* :D

Sure - however it goes in without falling out when you pick up the seat is the right way. Well, without resorting to duct tape, I mean. ;)

Back already.
I am installing in a 2004 Sienna using the short path with lap and shoulder belt. Middle row captains chair.
Is it ok, not ok for the recline bar to fall between the seat crease? I can't find a way for it to rest on the back of the seat with out it being off the seat and practically leaning forward. Let me go try and take some pictures and upload them.

As far as I know, the Regent manual doesn't say anything about where the recline bar needs to rest on the vehicle seat - it only requires that it's installed on the carseat. :)

So, the gaps in the pictures you posted - is it that wide when it's installed, even with the recline bar in the crease? Also, what is the black strap running horizontally across the side of the carseat - seat belt or LATCH strap?

As long as there is nothing about where it has to technically be I think I am ok. There is no gap when I put the recline bar in the crease. YEAH! With the help of reclining the seat back some first I got a rock solid instal. The strap was the lower latch strap getting in my way. I moved it,lol.

Dawn, that is awesome! I ordered a Regent also. It was just shipped today. I own a 2001 Toyota Sienna. I was planning on placing the Regent in one of my Captain's Chairs. I am very appreciative of your tips. Unfortunately, I cannot see your Snapfish pics??? Is there anyway I could see them, maybe via PM>? Or please PM me and I'll provide my email!

THANKS so much! I was so concerned that my Regent wouldn't fit my captain's chairs~~

**Anxiously awaiting our Pink Sky Frontier and Madison Regent!**

I just got Jack the Regent too. Here is my install (using the long belt path, since he is only 29.4 pounds). One thing to remember is you have to use the tether for the short belt path install. Make sure that you seat does not move more than an inch in any direction.Let me know if this link does not work and I will get you the pics another way. http://www2.snapfish.com/photolibrary/t_=134013817

Ok, I just got mine too and was asking questions, got directed to this thread.......figured out the recline bar from previous posts, thank you!

My next question is, LATCH versus seat belt. Seems like everyone is using seat belts versus LATCH. Is there a reason? I assumed I could use LATCH and not have to worry about the seatbelts.

my dd is approximately 33/34#s.

Thanks!

LATCH has weight limits. They vary depending on the manufacturer, but once your child reaches the LATCH weight limit, you must install the carseat with the seat belt instead. You're fine using the lower anchors for now, though. What vehicle do you have?

Keep in mind this refers to the lower anchors - you should always use the top tether on FF carseats regardless of the method of install. While the top tether also has a weight limit, the current recommendation is to continue using it anyway. This is because the top tether is just a supplement - it doesn't actually hold the carseat, it just "helps" the lower anchors or seat belt.

There's a more detailed explanation around here somewhere; I can find it if you're interested.

Thanks Debbie, would love the info. I have an '05 Expedition. Currently have 2 MAs installed (RF, FF) with latch & tether. I'll end up having a Regent/MA in each of my cars. One of which is going to be a 95 Plymouth Neon (getting it tomorrow since my dd1's accident last night). Definitely think dd2 falls into the ok range to use latch, she's approx 33/34 lbs.

It's funny how crazy you get about seats the more you know!
