Question How to make booster more comfortable?

Hi - my son is 8, but little (47" and only 43lbs). Anyway, he rides in a Graco Affix, usually with the highback attached.

On long drives, he complains that his bottom hurts and sometimes that his legs fall asleep. The seat is very stiff, and basically feels like sitting on hard plastic.

I'm looking for tips on how to make it more comfortable for long drives. We've tried some cushioning with a small blanket, but it wasn't great. Are there memory foam seat cushions that would fit? What have other people tried?

One idea is to give him something to rest his feet on. A lightweight plastic stool, or a foam cooler are some ideas. I've done a rolled up sleeping bag as well.

If that doesn't help, you might want to look at a cushier booster.

Definitely try a footrest, the dangling legs can cause the back and butt to get sore in addition to the legs falling asleep. For long trips I put the kids' duffle bags or sleeping bags at their feet.

You could also try taking the back off of the affix as long as he doesn't fall asleep. Removing the back will give more depth to the bottom and provide more leg support. I probably wouldn't look at different HBB's for an 8yo, even if he's smaller his skeleton and maturity are at the same stage as other 8yo's.
