I need another option... "almost never". E puked in his seat awhile back, we weren't home, so he had to use it as is for the time being. I soaked up the puke as best I could and sprinkled some baking soda on it with the plan of taking it out and washing the cover asap. It stopped stinking, so I forgot about it and I still haven't done it. Actually, thanks for the reminder. I'm going to do it right now!

about 1x a month i take it out and wash it unless she decides to spill something in it, but it gets taken out at least 1x a week so i can clean the van and it get dumped out and vacumed, we pretty much live in the car going to school/softball/football so the kids are always eating something in there.

I don't allow food while driving (besides getting the seat nasty, it's a choking hazard!) I also only allow my boys to have water in the car...so my seats are VERY clean! LOL I do take them out periodically to switch things around. I would say I wash the covers twice a year just because. I'd definitely wash if there was something spilled/a potty accident or vomit or if it was dirty in any way.

One of my biggest pet peeves is nasty carseats!

almost never. I never had, but was feeling guilty, so i finally broke down and washed our 2 main seats covers...once. Ever. MY kids don't puke in their seats, never have, hopefully never will. They get grimy and crumby and stuff....ya, my seats look like some of those CL seats that people post about "EWWW, gross, OMG" I have learned to ignore them .

I wash the covers twice a year, unless there is a major spill or mess. I check over my installs once a month, and take the seats out shake them out do a quick wipe down and reinstall every 3 months.

The covers get washed when they have been puked/peed/spilled on or if they look visibly dirty. The seats get vacuumed out once a month or so.

Major cleaning only happens after big messes...which are rare since DS almost never has food or drinks in his seat (pretty much only on long car trips). I do pull the seat out once every couple of months, shake out any stray crumbs/dirt, and give it a sniff though. If anything looks or smells dirty, it gets washed/wiped down. Otherwise though, DS's seat is probably cleaner than your average vehicle seat, lol.

I actually have never washed the carseats till I sold them to someone. The daycare kids are not allowed to eat or drink in the car unless it is more than an hour field trip which I have other grown ups to watch and make sure no one chokes on something. they actually stay pretty clean and in brand new condition.

The most I have had to do is brush out crumbs that fall out of clothes. I also havent had a puking or blow out accident.

I only clean them when they get really dirty, which isn't often except for the SR. There were many blowouts in that seat and it's been washed more times than I can count. I've washed one of the FPSVDs once and the TF once. She doesn't really eat in the car so they don't really get dirty. It's funny though, I can't stand a dirty carseat, but my car itself is filthy. Just another OCD thing I guess.

I vacuum them about 4x a year, wash only if something bad happens, or when I had no car for 3 weeks and they sat here staring at me LOL

I'd say I wash DD's primary seat every 2-3 months. When it starts to get grimy looking. It is a RNXT Malibu, so it is lightly colored. Her other seats, only when needed.
