How 'bout the Vivo for DD?

Hi again!

I was unhappy with the turbobooster fit, DD looked like the kid in the the seat snug you tube video when we took turns. She even said at one point, OMG mom, my shoulderjust came out of the belt..

Also TB had to be installed in the middle bec of the xc90 headrests leaving a huge gap between the booster and vehicle seat and I also think the built in booster gave it some added bounce. She also kept slouching so she could bend her knees.

So… I was given a recommendation for the vivo (thanks!) which I found at big lots thanks to another poster!

She seems to fit better in it and I can (I think) install it outboard. IT does pretty much sit flush against the seat. IF it could be latched in it def. would be flush. But if it is sitting there unbelted, there is a tiny bit of space that can be compressed.

When I need to put the vivo headrest up higher I will run into a problem with the outboard location.

I will need to have the Volvo headrest removed by the dealer. The booster manual did not say whether or not the Vivo can be used without a headrest supporting it.

So, after my long story, my questions are as follows:

What do you think of her fit in the seat? (did the pics on the blackberry -- hope they are good enough for you all to judge)

Does Volvo allow locking the seat belt for training/long trips/naps?

And can I use this booster without a vehicle seat headrest?

Thank you !! Jenny

1. Fit looks excellent.

2. If the vehicle manual doesn't forbid it, locking the belt is fine.

3. Vivo does NOT need vehicle head rest support.

Super! Glad that you think the fit works. I already think I love this seat, it seems so sturdy and I took a peek at the SIP "styrofoam" -- it has these little raised circles all around and is quite thick.

I also with the belt locked asked her to try to squeeze herself out of the seat from the bottom. She was unable to get her hips past the belt. I know that isn't an official test of submarining or anything but it just made me feel less anxious about my little girl sitting in a booster seat!

Thanks for such speedy replies!

and FYI, they had quite a wide selection of car seats at our Big Lots (not that I should have told you that anyway ;-) Jenny

Well DS already has 3 seats (plus a combo seat we have no use for since we bought it before we knew about ERF'ing) but there's always "research purposes", right??
