Help me get a tighter install: Regent SBP Lap-shoulder belt

Hey there. DC quickly went from 43 lbs to nearly 48 lbs (after eating a huge meal, fully dressed and before peeing). Gaining in leg height significantly!

Anyway, the other day I switched from center latch install in the 2007 Ford Fusion to short-belt-path lap-shoulder belt center install.

It was in okay, and I figured out a way to tighten it up more but I'd like to get an even better install, if possible.

Has anyone tried using latch ONLY as an intermediate step in getting a better short belt path install? To anyone reading this, you can not use the lower latch with the seatbelt to secure a car seat!

Main concern: Would the latch clips end up in the wrong position once I released them if I tried this?

Thanks everyone!

I don't know since I've never tried this technique. TBH, when I installed my Husky, I never put the LATCH connectors in the side pouches to keep them out of the way because they ended up in weird positions on the sides of the seats, so I just stuck them in the dead space behind the seat anyway. There should be plenty of room for you to stick your hands back behind the seat to tuck the connectors away safely.
