Opinions, comments, suggestions? I would love to hear what you all think of it! I know the Safeseat 1 gets good comments, but I don't recall hearing (reading) anything about the Safeseat 2. :)

It's not my first choice for a seat. Why? For a child who has recently outgrown the SafeSeat I, he's probably not much more than 18 months old, if that, and should still be rearfacing, which is not an option with the SS2.

But, for an older toddler, it only has a 40 lb limit, so it's possible he'll outgrow it by weight before he's old enough or physically mature enough for a booster.

For the price, it's just not an ideal seat. I don't think it's a BAD seat, it's just not something I would spend money on due to its limitations (no rearfacing, 40 lb limit)

I agree with ThreeBeans. It isn't a bad seat, it just has very limited usage time. For that short period of time, however, it is actually a really cool seat.

I have one. I dont like it that much. Its a great FF seat, but i'd like the option to RF with it also. There are Soooo many better seats than the ss2 for the same amount of money.

Here's some pics of it:

My biggsest beef, is how high it is off of the ground. DS2 has sensory issues, and doensn't like to be that high up in the air. I'm waiting a few before talking DH into getting him a regent!

I like the seat, but agree that you can do better for your money. It has limited usage and can only FF. I love the ease of installation, the belt lockoffs and the recline option. The model I have only has one crotch strap location. I wish it had more positions. My 21 month, almost 22 lb, 32" toddler is on the middle of 3 harness slots and I still feel that the crotch strap would fit better if it was in closer. Also the seat cover is easy to remove and wash.

It does take up a lot of space compared to the Radian 65 width wise and sits up quite high, which isn't an issue since it's in the backseat of an extend a cab pickup.

MSB, it does look comfortable. Is it as easy to install as the SSI

I haven't installed an ss1, so i cant help you there, but it's okay. I like the regent install Waaaaaaaaay better than the ss2. Its hard to shake it, because the seat back is not on the 'base' tight, because of the recline in place 'feature'.

I can't get it tight enough myself, because its hard to 'sit' in the seat and pull.

But i CAN do it. WAAAAAY tons times better than the 3in1 we had.

We have a safeseat 2 that my son has since outgrown and I agree that it has many limitations due to weight. I will say that I found it to be one of the easiest seats to install. When you recline it the seatbelt slips easily through and it has lockoffs. The seat does sit high and can be hard to get kids up into the seat if you have a high car.

I'd be so happy if the SS1 went to 35 pounds (and had a slightly taller shell to accommodate that), the SS 2 went from 30-60 pounds, and the SS3 was for 50+ pounds. It would rock for a company to do that!

Yeah, except that my kid didn't hit 30 lbs until he was 37 inches. That would be a hella infant seat to take a kid to 2 and a half! :p

I agree that it wouldn't be the "perfect" solution (because of tall, skinny babies), but it would be great for a lot of people! :)
