Frontier 90 and Toyota Sienna

I Have a 2011 sienna - frontier 90 installed in captain chair. But, to get a good install, I took off the headrest. Then I read on another board that the versa tether should go through the headrest. Ours just goes up and over the seat back...

When I install with the head rest in place, it pushes the frontier 90 headwings forward...

Can I leave it installed without the head rest? Does the 90 requires a vehicle headrest in place (couldn't find a yes or no answer in the manual)? Is there a trick to installing the 90 in a 2011 sienna and keeping the headrest in place?

Thanks!

The short answer is no, you don't need the headrest unless for some reason the vehicle manufacturer requires it. The Frontier does not require vehicular head support.

In the post I think you are referring to, the issue is that the vehicle seat is narrower than the tether straps on the child seat, and slipping off the side of the vehicle seat. I think it is just incompatible with that seating location.

The issue with v shaped tethers is a bit convoluted. Basically, you want to take the most natural or straight path, which is often around the head restraint. However, most vehicle manufacturers assume a single tether strap and direct you to route straight under (or over, as the case might be). I use my own judgement here, along with whatever guidance manuals provide.

Sorry for the typos, new phone takes some getting used to!
