Foonf cleaning tips?

We had major vomit-in-the-car-seat incident yesterday, and I'm having a really hard time getting the vomit smell out of the seat, particularly the webbing on the crotch buckle. As per the manual instructions, it is okay to wipe the strap webbing with water and a mild detergent (I used 7th Gen unscented dish soap), but the buckle you can only rinse with water. That's not getting the smell out, particularly since I don't think you can remove the buckle? Any suggestions?

And as a side note, is it completely unacceptable to use the KF30 on a 31" child for a quick trip to the grocery store for soda crackers and Pedialyte? She's 23 lbs, and her head is still below the top of the shell, but she just hit 31" tall. The Foonf is all wet and stinky, so I can't put her in that.

Oh yuck! I hope she's feeling better soon! Nothing worse than puke.

You should be able to slide the buckle out of its slot. If you're in a location where there's some sun, stick it in the sun, such that it is this time of year. That should help with the smell. Rinse it really well first.

Since her head is below the top of the shell of the KF, go ahead and use it to get to the store. The instruction manual says her head must be 1" below the top of the shell.

Thank you! I knew you could slide the buckle forward, but didn't realize it comes all the way out. I'll try that. Not much sun in Seattle in January, but it's not raining, so I'll see what UV rays we can get.

And I did use the KF. Not something I would be comfortable with on a regular basis, but I'm glad to know it's sort of okay in an emergency-type situation.
