Do I need my Snugride 32 base for 2002 Jeep Liberty?

Hello! I am about to fly back to visit with my family. They are going to pick me up in their 2002 Jeep Liberty. I would prefer not to take the base with me because it just adds bulkiness and I'm traveling alone with my baby. I asked my dad about the seat belt locking in the back and he's not sure what I am talking about. Can someone tell me for certain? I also just don't want to have to take the base out of my car because I have to use the metal locking thing (older car and the belts don't lock) and it is perfect now and it took me awhile to get it perfect! Thank you!

1: the belts lock in a 2002 vehicle

2: the snugride 32 base has lockoffs and does not need a metal locking clip even with non-locking belts.

I agree with Kimberly. The Jeep will have locking belts (probably at the buckle for all three), and your base has a lockoff built in. The big red and gray thing on the belt path? Can you take a picture of your installation? That should take about 30 seconds, and the only time you'd use the locking clip with your seat is with a baseless installation with a non-locking seatbelt.

I have an 03 Liberty. The outboard belts have switchable retractors and the center is a lightweight locking latchplate. That center belt makes for very easy car seat installs. You should not have a problem installing baseless in any seating position but the center should be the easiest.

Thanks, everyone! I'm glad I won't have to lug the base with me! I will take a picture tomorrow and try to upload it. However I just registered and it might not let me for a couple days.
