Hello
To those of you who currently own a the Diono Monterey, could you have a look at your stickers please? Do seats sold in the US include the ECE stickers required for Europe?
Thanks!

Hi, swissmama.

I just looked at my stickers and do not see any ECE stickers. However, I have a Sunshine Kids Monterey, not a Diono.

No, the Diono seats are not certified for use in multiple countries. My Canadian model is only certified for use in Canada, and differs slightly from the US model that is only certified for use in the USA, and same for the ECE certified seats.

Thanks for checking.
tiggercat, does that mean that there are seats which are certified for use in multiple countries?
And just out of curiosity, what would the differences be between the same seat sold in different countries? Surely it's "just" sticking a different sticker on?

There have been a few "dual certified" seats, the Orbit Baby infant was iirc, with both Canadian and American stickers on the same seat. I am not aware of any North American and European dual certified seats, but I am a Canadian :D

There are differences between the "same" seats in different countries. Some seats are identical, others have modifications required to meet the applicable standards.
Some examples I am familiar with
Ex. The Canadian Monterey has a lower limit of 40lb, while in the USA, I believe the lower limit is 30lb as a HBB. This is because CDN standards don't allow for boosters below 40lb.
Ex. Almost all North American 5pt harnessed seats would not meet ECE regs as is, because they do not have the required 1 handed release. The chest clip makes it a 2 step process, not allowed on ECE seats.
Ex. Some Canadian models have extra padding in the head area vs. their US counterparts to meet CDN standards (Graco Nautilus for example).
Ex. Some CDN seats have anti-rebound features (bars, bolsters, contours) that US models don't have, to meet the 2012 CDN standards. (Graco MyRide, peg perego pv convertible, Dorel 3in1s)
Ex. Top tethers are required on all FF seats in Canada, optional in the USA, rare in ECE (or at least they used to be, I read they were becoming more popular?)
