Convertible w/ side impact protection - which is best?

We have an older model vehicle with only two airbags both in the front. What type of convertible do you think has the best side impact protection? DC is 15 months.

There is no standard for side impact testing in the United States, so it's impossible to say which seat performs best in a side impact crash. However, we do know that above all rear facing is the safest in any crash, so the most important part is choosing a seat that will allow your child to rear face optimally to age 3-4. For most kids a Graco MyRide, Evenflo Triumph or Momentum, First Years True Fit, Britax Marathon or Boulevard, or Diono Radian will accomplish that. They all have their pluses and minuses, really it depends on which features you like best and which will fit your child and your vehicle best. If you have a tall, skinny kid - a True Fit or Radian work great. If your kid is more average in their proportions, a MyRide or Triumph. If you have smaller kids, the Britax seats are nice but have limited leg and torso growth room.
