Question Convertiable Car Seat Help

Looks like we need to switch DS into a new/convertible carseat soon. He is 6.5 months old and at his 6 month appointment was 19lb9oz, 80th percentile for weight and 29inches, 99th percentile for height. We currently use a Chicco KeyFit 30 car seat since he was a new born, he is only 1inch short to KeyFit 30 limit. Now we are looking for a seat that will last long for him (perfer to he can use till he is 6-7 years old), also we are thinking to have a second one, so we will be able to use the chicco keyfit 30 in the middle and the convertiable carseat next to it in my ’11 honda pilot.

The best choices for a tall kiddo are going to be the Diono Radian, Maxi Cosi Pria, or Graco Size4Me. All have at least a 40lb rear facing weight limit, and tall shells that should get your son somewhere past 3 rear facing, which is the ideal, and then have tall harness strap positions so they'll last most kids until around 5 as well. If you're planning on a second though, unless you have them very close together most parents end up passing the convertible down to the baby when they're out of the infant seat, and then getting a combination seat (FF harness plus booster) for the older child.

The Radian is the narrowest of the three, but you may be able to fit either of the other two next to your Keyfit when the time comes as well.
