A friends carseat shopping for her baby a convertable. Her kids tend to be big and tall. I know Britax arent often recommended for tall kids. What seats do have a tall shell. She wants something to last through till booster.

Depending on how the child grows there are no guarantees of a convertible seat lasting until booster age. Most kids aren't booster ready until 5.5-6 years of age, some longer.

The longest lasting convertible is the Diono Radian RXT or R120. Both of those models rear face to 45 pounds and have a FF weight limit of 80 pounds (kids outgrow the seat in height before 80# but it still lasts a good long time). It has a tall shell and high harness slots.

My next recommendation is the First Years True Fit. It rear faces to 35 pounds and FF to 65 (is that right? I'm having a forgetful moment). It actually has a slightly taller shell than the Radian but it falls to second in line on my list if recommendations because of the 35 pound RF weight limit.

Okay. I've already suggested the Radian. I'll tell her about the Complete Air too incase the Radian is out of budget. Plus its not easy to install at first. I think I'm going to skip the True Fit because her son is 25lbs at 9m. Not sure of his height but she said he's outgrowing the comfort sport.

Evenflo Triumph 65 is another. She can trade in the Comfort Sport starting the 26th at Babies R Us for a 25% discount. The Triumph would be $113 with the discount. Myride would be $120 and the Complete Air would be $135.

I like the MyRides, but I was under the impression that they weren't a whole lot taller than Britax if that's what we're comparing to. Maybe an inch? An inch is a lot of torso growth for that lower price tag, of course, but my kid seemed to be at the edge of the MyRide and the Britaxes RF in the same period. I was being conservative, though, and didn't try the MyRide FF.
