Comparing Parkway SG to SGL and my impulse buy.

I tried the Parkway SG and SGL in my Odyssey last week. The store owner was trying to convince me that I didn't need the SGL since I don't have LATCH. But the seats are soooooo different, aside from the LATCH issue:

-The slide guard clip on the SG is awkward and uncomfortable, on the SGL it is very easy to use and not noticeable to the child, especially one who is used to riding in a 5-point harness.

-The fabric on the SG is itchy mesh; on the SGL it is a smoother, softer fabric. The seats I compared were the pink SG and the cloudburst (gray) SGL.

-The shoulder belt guide seems to allow the belt to slide more freely on the SGL, at least in my vehicle. So if DD leans forward to get something, the belt retracts nicely when she leans back into position.

-The armrests of the SGL are lower and rubber-covered, as opposed to the slightly higher, fabric-covered armrests on the SG. This actually is kind of a non-issue - in theory the lower armrests should help belt fit, but with the slide guard, the belt stays nice and low anyway.

-The SGL is significantly heavier than the SG. This is kind of a bummer, but I'm also hoping that the additional weight in the base of the booster will help keep it from being tippy - DD finds the Turbobooster to be tippy in our vehicle.

-The price - I paid $129 for the SGL. The SG was $99.

So that leads to my impulse buy - I bought a $130 booster right before Christmas, for a child who still fits in her 5-point harness.

I got the Livia color. DD wants to ride in a booster all the time now. She is ready, I think, but it feels like a big step.

Also, this means I can't buy a new convertible for DS (outgrowing his 40 lb. RA). So I MUST make one of the seats we have work RFing behind the driver seat in our Forester - I need to try out our Radian with the angle adjuster.
